Shelf Brackets & Shelf Supports

Shelf brackets hold up shelves and countertops from below or behind; shelf supports, also called shelf pins or clips, hold adjustable shelves inside cabinets. CSH carries brackets and supports from Knape & Vogt, Sugatsune, U.S. Futaba, FastCap, Deltana and CSH, from small shelf pins to heavy countertop and workstation brackets.

Choosing a shelf bracket

Match the bracket to the load and the overhang: countertop and workstation brackets are built for heavy, deep surfaces, while L-brackets suit lighter shelves. For adjustable cabinet shelves, measure the hole diameter (commonly 5 mm or 1/4") before you buy shelf pins. The Kreg shelf pin jig makes drilling rows of holes easy.

Questions

What size shelf pins do I need?

Measure the holes in your cabinet. Most are 5 mm or 1/4"; pick pins made for that hole size.

How far apart should shelf brackets be?

Space them closer for heavy loads and long shelves, and screw into studs or solid backing whenever you can.

What bracket do I need for a countertop overhang?

Use a countertop bracket rated for the overhang depth and the weight on top.
