Soft-Close Cabinet Hinges
Soft-close hinges slow the cabinet door in its last few degrees of travel so it closes quietly every time, with no slamming. The hinges here are concealed (Euro-style) hinges with the damper built in, from Blum, Pride Industrial and FGV. They come in versions for face-frame and frameless cabinets and for full overlay, half overlay and inset doors.
Soft-close hinges for face-frame cabinets
- Blum Compact 38N: one-piece face-frame hinge, soft-closing version in overlays from 5/16" to 3/4", screw-on or press-in, 105° opening.
- Blum Compact 39C: soft-closing version for larger overlays, 1" to 1-9/16", 110° opening.
- Blum Compact Clip with Blumotion: a two-piece face-frame hinge that clips on, with soft-close built in.
Soft-close hinges for overlay and inset doors
- Blum Clip Top Blumotion 110°: full overlay, plus half-cranked and full-cranked versions for half overlay and inset doors. Nickel or black; screw-on, press-in, Inserta or Expando.
- Pride Industrial soft-close clip-on 110° hinge: full overlay, half overlay or inset, press-in or screw-on.
- Blum Clip Top 155° zero protrusion: soft-closing wide-angle hinge for cabinets with inner drawers or pull-outs.
Keep your hinges, add soft-close

How to choose soft-close cabinet hinges
Match three things to your cabinet: face frame or frameless, the door position (full overlay, half overlay or inset) and the overlay amount. Questions
Can you put soft-close hinges on existing cabinets?
Yes. If the new hinge matches the type and mounting of the old one, it's a straight swap. If you'd rather keep your hinges, add a Blumotion damper such as the 970A for Euro hinges.
How do I know which soft-close hinges to buy?
Check whether your cabinet has a face frame, whether the door is full overlay, half overlay or inset, and how much it overlays the opening. Face-frame cabinets usually take a Blum Compact hinge; full overlay, half overlay and inset doors take the matching Clip Top Blumotion or Pride Industrial version.
Are Blumotion hinges soft-close?
Yes. Blumotion is Blum's soft-close system. Clip Top Blumotion and Compact Clip with Blumotion hinges have it built in.
