Soft-Close Drawer Slides

Soft-close drawer slides catch a drawer in the last part of its travel and pull it gently shut, so it can't slam. They're an easy upgrade for kitchen and bath cabinets, and they come in both side-mount and undermount styles.

Side-mount soft-close slides

Side-mount soft-close slides fit drawers built for standard ball-bearing slides. The CSH soft-close side-mount slide is full extension, rated 100 lb and has a long 2-3/8" soft-close stroke. You'll also find the Knape & Vogt G-Slide 4270, the low-profile KV 4450 for box and file drawers, Sugatsune stainless steel soft-close slides and a 200 lb heavy-duty soft-close slide from Knape & Vogt.

Undermount soft-close slides

Undermount soft-close slides hide under the drawer box. Choose the Blum MOVENTO 769 (170 lb) or MOVENTO 763 (125 lb) with BLUMOTION built in, Hettich Quadro V6, FGV Excel, the Soft Pro 6X or our CSH soft-close undermount slide (85 lb). See all undermount drawer slides.

Choosing soft-close slides

  • Replacing side-mount slides? Measure the old slide's length and the gap between drawer and cabinet. Our CSH soft-close side-mount slide has the same 1/2" side clearance and 1-3/4" height as our standard CSH full-extension slide.
  • Building new drawers? Undermount slides give the cleanest look but need the right drawer side thickness and a notched drawer back.
  • Heavy drawers? Pots, pans and pantry drawers call for a higher rating, such as MOVENTO 769 at 170 lb.
  • Want touch-to-open? Blum TIP-ON BLUMOTION adds touch-to-open to MOVENTO runners and still closes softly.

Questions

Can I add soft-close to existing drawers?

Yes. Swap the old slides for soft-close slides of the same length and mounting style. For side-mount drawers with 1/2" of clearance per side, the CSH soft-close side-mount slide drops into the same space as a standard ball-bearing slide.

Are soft-close slides side-mount or undermount?

Both. Side-mount soft-close slides suit most retrofits; undermount soft-close slides suit new drawer boxes built to the runner's spec.

Do soft-close drawers also come in push-to-open?

Yes. Blum TIP-ON BLUMOTION gives MOVENTO drawers touch-to-open with soft close. For side-mount drawers, the Knape & Vogt 4260 is a push-to-open slide.

What else do I need for undermount soft-close slides?

Undermount runners attach to the drawer with locking devices or front clips. Find them in drawer slide accessories.
