Oak Kitchen Cabinets
Oak kitchen cabinets from pale white oak and driftwood tones to warm desert and canyon browns, in shaker, slim shaker, slab and raised panel doors. All wood boxes with dovetail drawers, ready to assemble or assembled. Part of our stained wood cabinets range.
Oak is not what it was
The oak kitchens of the 1990s were golden oak: an orange-amber stain on red oak with a glossy topcoat. Today's oak is the opposite. Light, matte, low-sheen stains on white oak or rift-cut oak that leave the wood looking almost raw. The grain is the point. If you are picturing the old look, these lines will surprise you; if you want the Scandinavian or California-modern kitchen you have been saving photos of, this is the material.
White oak cabinets
Contemporary Oak from TA Cabinetry is our closest match to a true white oak look: a slim shaker door in a pale, neutral stain with the straight grain that defines the style. Dover Oak and Essex Oak from JSI in Driftwood are a light gray-beige oak on a classic shaker frame. For a warmer light oak, Galaxy Oak and Luna Oak from Fabuwood in Desert Oak sit between natural and honey.
Oak slab and raised panel doors
Luxe Oak from Fabuwood is a flat slab door in Canyon Oak or Desert Oak, the horizontal-grain modern look without the frameless-box price. It pairs with a painted perimeter in white or black; see modern and slab cabinets. At the traditional end, Regal Oak from GHI is a raised panel door in a mid-tone oak stain; see raised panel cabinets.
Living with oak
Oak is among the hardest cabinet woods and its open grain hides small wear better than smooth maple or any paint. Light stains show grain variation board to board, which is the look, but means doors across a run will not match like painted doors do. Order from a single lot and expect natural variation.
Pairing oak
Oak lowers under white uppers, an oak island in a green or black kitchen, or a full oak kitchen with a white or pale stone countertop all work. Matte black and brushed brass are the usual hardware; see cabinet hardware.
Order a sample door first
Oak grain and stain tone vary by lot. A sample tells you both before a kitchen's worth of doors does.
