Dummy Door Levers and Knobs

Dummy hardware looks like a working lever or knob but has no latch, no spring and no rotating mechanism. It mounts directly to the door face and stays fixed in place, giving you something to pull on without any working hardware behind it.

Where dummy hardware is used

Closet and pantry doors that rely on a ball catch or roller catch. The inactive leaf of a French door or double door pair. Bifold and bypass doors. Any opening where you need the look of a matched handle set without a functioning latch.

Single versus double dummy

A single dummy mounts on one face of the door and is the common choice for closets and inactive door leaves. A double dummy mounts on both faces and is used on doors that get pulled from either side, such as a pantry or a pair of French doors.

Choosing a finish

Dummy hardware is almost always specified to match working hardware elsewhere in the opening, so start with the finish and lever style you have already selected and work backward. We stock the full finish range across most families, including polished brass, matte black, satin nickel and gunmetal.
