Edge Banding & Veneer

Edge banding covers the raw edges of plywood and particleboard so shelves, cabinet boxes and doors look finished. CSH carries FastCap Fastedge peel-and-stick edge banding in wood and PVC, Edgemate pre-glued (iron-on) wood edge banding, and wood veneer.

Choosing edge banding

Match the width to your panel thickness (13/16" or 7/8" for 3/4" plywood, then trim flush), match the species to the plywood face, and choose peel-and-stick for quick jobs or pre-glued for an iron or edgebander. Trim the overhang with an edge trimmer; see hand tools.

Questions

How do you apply iron-on edge banding?

Heat it with a household iron or edgebander until the glue melts, press it down with a roller, let it cool, then trim the edges flush.

What width edge banding do I need?

Choose banding slightly wider than the panel, such as 13/16" or 7/8" for 3/4" material, and trim the excess.

Can you stain wood edge banding?

Yes. Unfinished wood banding takes stain and finish like the panel face.
